Filipino-American actor Sam Milby said that he is trying his best to speak straight Tagalog to expand his horizons as an actor.

Sam admitted that he is still having a hard time speaking Tagalog, which is why he continues to study the language.

“Ang gusto ko, matuto. Kasi lahat ng mga roles ko iyong nanggaling sa States. Parang ayaw ko ng ganyan. Limited talaga iyong mga roles ko,” the actor said.

He said if he becomes good in Tagalog he can do more roles for television or movies.

“Kahit saan na ako, kahit sa Mindanao,” he said.

He said that he was studying Tagalog but needed to stop when he started to shoot his hit movie “My Big Love” with Toni Gonzaga and the television series “Maging Sino Ka Man.”

Right now, Milby is honing his Tagalog for the television series “Dyosa” which stars his special love Anne Curtis.

"Dyosa" will premiere Monday, August 11 after ABS-CBN’s contest “The Singing Bee.”

In an earlier interview with Milby, he said that he and Curtis are still in the courting stage.

Sam or Samuel Lloyd Lacia Milby in real life started his career when he joined the first ever season of "Pinoy Big Brother".

This early in his career he already received various recognitions such as 2005 Most Promising Male Singer, 2006 Prince of Philippine Movies by the Guillermo Mendoza Memorial Foundation, Best New Male Artist in the 19th Annual Aliw Awards, Best New Male TV personality by the Philippine Movie Press Club in the 20th Star Awards for Television and one of the ten Most Well-Liked Male TV personalities by the South East Asian Anak TV Seal.

Aside from appearing in commercials, he is also busy doing concerts here and abroad. He will have his first solo concert in September at the Aliw Theater.

Young actor Sam Milby said he is happy with the state of his life as he celebrated his 24th birthday.

When asked what his birthday wish was, Milby replied, "Ang birthday wish ko actually wala, masaya ako sa lahat ng nangyayari sa buhay ko. Siyempre gusto kong makita ang pamilya ko nang mas madalas. Gusto ko laging masaya ang pamilya ko," Milby told abs-cbnNEWS.com.

The heartthrob admitted that he would like to buy a gift for himself.

"Sa birthday gift ko, gusto kong ipagbili iyong kotse ko at bumili ng bagong kotse."

Plans for the future

The actor said he still has aspirations he hopes to fulfill.

"I want to go back to college, I wanna take up psychology pero hindi ko alam ang gagawin ko, kasi parang ngayon I’m getting into a little business," Milby said.

He also wants to become a better artist. "Improvement lang sa lahat ng kailangan, sa craft sa Tagalog, sa singing, sa performance, sa lahat gusto kong mag-improve."

Milby also shared that as a birthday gift, his rumored girlfriend, actress Anne Curtis gave him an XBox 360.

As Milby turned 24, he said that one of the best birthday gifts he received was the retraction and apology that brought about the settlement of the libel case against columnist-host Lolit Solis. Milby is now happy that everything ended well.

"Siyempre relieving. Siyempre we didn’t want to go on with the case, so just happy I mean it’s over. It didn’t go any further," Milby said.

His relationship with Anne's mom

Milby also denied reports that he felt bad that Curtis' mother would prefer actor-host Luis Manzano to be her daughter's boyfriend. He also denied reports that he and Curtis' mother don’t get along well.

"We do get along very well, pero we haven’t had time to know each other na ganyan. Iyong report na lumabas na iyong preference niya ay si Luis it’s more na mas kilala niya si Luis kaysa sa akin.

"Kasi iyong first time na nagkakilala kami ay Christmas lang. This is the second time actually na we got to see each other. I’m sure na in time na we will get to know each other a lot more," he said.

Last Friday, May 23rd, was Milby's actual birthday. He did a show in Melbourne, Australia where Curtis' mother is based. She showed up on stage and gave him a lot of gifts.

"I was so happy nanood siya ng concert namin ni Piolo... she came out on stage and said her birthday wish for me. She brought the cake tapos ang daming gifts na binigay like my tie, my shirt and my wine."

Milby extended his thanks to the mother of his "soul mate."

"Tita Carmen, thank you so much for coming to watch the concert. Thank you sa gifts niyo po at sana later this year I will see you again and don’t forget to text."

Milby is now busy preparing for his latest series entitled "Dyosa" with Anne Curtis.

He said that right now he can not say with finality that Curtis is the woman destined for him.

"Well siyempre you will never know kung "the one" pala, but I mean magkakaroon ng time na you know she’s the only woman that you are interested in, that I want to be with you."

When asked if Curtis is wife material for him, Milby said, "Yes. Iyong trabaho na gusto niyang gawin pagkatapos ng showbiz na mag-preschool teacher, she loves kids talaga, she loves kids."

Presently, Milby and Curtis are still in the courting stage.

"Everything was going great with our courtship, pero parang we both felt na God is telling us na it’s not the right time pa, na we need to concentrate on God muna, so iyon ang nangyari. We do go on dates, watch movies together," he said.

Milby has high praises for Curtis. "She’s, wow... she’s gorgeous beautiful inside and out."

Sam and Piolo withdraw libel case vs. Lolit Solis

Talent manager and tabloid columnist Lolit Solis can now breathe a sigh of relief after the libel complaint lodged against her was withdrawn Wednesday afternoon following her apology to the two actors involved, a television news report said.
24 Oras’ Chika Minute reported that Lolit signed a retraction at the Manila Regional Trial court at around 6 p.m. Wednesday and formally apologized to the actors, Piolo Pascual and Sam Milby.

Pascual and Milby likewise withdrew their libel complaints against the well-known TV host.

The move happened just a week after the two visited the Justice secretary to ask for fairness regarding the handling of the case.

Pascual and Milby, went to the office of Justice Secretary Raul Gonzalez on May 7 amid talks that columnist Lolit Solis had been bragging about her "connections" in the department.

On November 16, Pascual and Milby filed a P12-million libel suit against Solis in connection with an alleged malicious item in her column about the two actors.

The case was sparked by Solis' "Take It, Take It" - an apparent reference to the 1992 Metro Manila Film Festival scandal which also involved Solis - column last October 15.

In Solis' column, she said that she saw Pascual and Milby "whispering into each other's ears, with their cheeks touching," while having snacks at the poolside coffee shop of the Hotel Sofitel in Pasay City on October 12.

This was denied by Milby and Pascual who presented several witnesses who said that they were in different places at that time.

Solis and her co-accused Veronica Samio in the case, the former Pilipino Star Ngayon entertainment editor, have posted bail.

Sam and Piolo visits DOJ

Just how "well-connected" is entertainment columnist ad talent manager Lolit Solis at the Deparment of Justice?

Whether such a "connection" is real or just an idle boast, actors Sam Milby and Piolo Pascual are not taking their chances. They went to the DOJ to get an assurance from Justice Secretary Raul Gonzalez himself, that their libel case against Lolit will be treated fair and square.

Sam and Piolo went to the DOJ after all the buzz about Lolit's supposed "connection" inside the department. The buzz in showbiz circles is that Lolit has lately been boasting about her supposed connection.

As the buzz goes, Lolit has allegedly been saying that her connection at the DOJ will ensure the dismissal of the libel case filed against her by the two actors.

The Manila Prosecutor's Office earlier found enough evidence to make a case against Lolit, but so fare the case has not reached the court. This is because Lolit has filed a petition for review before the DOJ.

Sam and Piolo are suing Lolit for libel after she wrote in her column that she witnessed both of them in a homosexual tryst at the Hotel Sofitel in Pasay City. With a report from TV Patrol World
